A local deals app for deals that are live right now

Beam is a free iPhone app that shows time-limited deals from local businesses within walking distance of you. A restaurant with empty tables at seven, or a coffee shop with a dead afternoon, posts a deal; it appears on your phone with a countdown; you claim it and show the code at the counter. Nothing is bought in the app.

How it is different from a coupon or voucher app

You do not buy anything up front. Voucher sites have you pay for a voucher in advance. On Beam you claim for free and pay the business the deal price when you are there.
Deals are live, and they end. Each one runs for a set time and may have a cap on redemptions, which is why the good ones go fast.
They come from the business itself, posted when it wants customers, to people nearby.

What kinds of places are on Beam

Seven categories: Food, Coffee, Bars, Shopping, Fun, Wellness and Services. You can narrow the list to the ones you care about. See the businesses on Beam.

How a deal works

Open Beam and see what is live near you, on a list or a map.
Tap a deal to claim it. The claim holds for the time the deal sets, often an hour.
Show the code at the counter. Staff scan it or type the six-character code under it.
Pay the discounted price directly. Each redemption earns you Glow Points.
